Begin morning serenade at least two hours before Mom's alarm goes off. Incite the other boys
to join in as well. Make sure and get really loud, because it makes Kali mad, and she will start
screeching (she needs her beauty sleep, you know). Sing just long enough to wake everyone up,
then go back to sleep. Repeat several times, then pretend to be really sleeping when mom finally
wakes up.Once Mom *finally* gets up, screech as loud as I can so she'll let me out first, then insist on riding on her shoulder while she gets her 'caffiene' (don't forget to stash a couple of pellets or seeds for dropping into her drink). Refuse to come off her shoulder, so she'll take you in the bathroom with her, hop on the mirror perch and sing as loud as possible. This works really well, the rest of the boys will screech really loud because I'm in the bathroom and they aren't (neener neener neener). Mom makes really amusing faces when my singing echoes in the bathroom.
Putz around in the cage, disconnecting toys, till Mom takes the breakfast plate away, then screech pitifully till mom makes another one just for me, then only pick at the food on it. Mom will make her own breakfast while I'm doing this, and when she's ready to eat, hop onto HER food and eat with her. If she has cereal, be sure to hop IN the bowl, milk is sooo good for the feet! Even more fun is pancakes, Mom really has a fit if I walk thru syrup and then run all over her when she's trying to catch me.
If she totally refuses to share (she'll try to say it's BAD for me!) then poop on her plate and fly over to the cage, acting innocent.
During the day, make sure to work on toys disconnecting skills. There's almost nothin I can't get loose now, but it's really fun anyway. It's especially fun if I can get it just loose enough so that it will fall when one of the other birds is playing with it. Watch for signs that mom wants to go outside (or even to the bathroom), and get *really* cuddly right before then.
Decide what color pellets to eat today. Make sure to throw ALL the others out so they'll fall thru the grate. Can't have the other birdies eating the BAD pellets. Change colors daily. Poop in the water bowl. Poop in the OTHER water bowl. Poop in the water bowl in the OTHER CAGE. POOP ON MOM'S HEAD!!! (sometimes, she doesn't see it, and actually goes OUTSIDE with my present! Any other cockatiel she might find while out will know this is MY Mommy!!) Poop in moms pocket. Poop on the lightbulb in the lamp on moms desk. She never turns it on till we are all in bed, and it's funny watching her trying to figure out what that smell is! Poop on the cell phone, it's really funny to watch mom answer a poopy phone. But never, EVER poop in mom's glass or cup. It makes mom *really* mad and often leads to 'Time Out'. Beak all the paper in the printer. All mom's documents need decoration, especially if they have pretty pictures on them (make sure to get the ones she calls 'christmas cards'). Chew the rungs on all our ladders till they fall apart, then complain really loud when we can't get to where we want to go. Untie all the knots, remove all the beads, and generally deconstruct our toys, then ignore what's left because it's no fun, and go play somewhere we're not supposed to (like moms desk).
When mom kicks us out of there, convince Kali that the printer would make a good nesting place.
Pick a really good hiding place, then incite the rest of the birds to panic fly, and fly to the chosen hiding place. When mom and dad gather up all the birds to take back to the cage, stay hidden and refuse to answer when she calls. It's fun to watch mom panic when she can't find you. Eyeglasses are the enemy! Attempt to rescue anyone wearing them, and don't give up when they try to shoo you off. Jewelry and buttons require lots of attention as well. Nap on moms foot. Nap on moms keyboard. Nap on moms lap while she's watching TV, so she doesn't get up to snack or go potty. Be sure to look really sweet while doing it, so no one will bother you.
Just make sure to rest up before Dinner time, because there's lots of work to do then.
After dinner, it's cuddle time. Refuse to cuddle if any bird other than Kali is sitting with mom. Bite mom's ear if another bird lands on mom's head. If mom is scritching another bird, screech REALLY loud, run down to moms hand and chase the other bird off, then refuse to let mom scritch you. Get really sulky and climb down to sit on moms foot. Be a real pain till something comes on TV mom *really* wants to watch, then climb up in her face and be sweet, give her kisses and sing to her. Be so sweet she can't ignore you for at least 30 minutes. By then, the show will be half over and not worth watching. The fly off to the cage for a nap. Gotta rest up for bed time! Nap until mom and dad are really into something on TV. Then climb down, quietly, (with some of the other birds along for fun) and putz around on the floor where we're not supposed to be. Eat seed and pellets off the floor around our cage (taste so much better out there). Have a tug of war over string found on the floor. Climb in the big basket mom thought she hid under the table, and have fun shredding papers in it. Climb back up to the top of the cage and spend some time throwing ALL the popcorn in the popcorn box onto the floor, then run down there and stomp all over it. Get bored, and lead the 'tiel train over to mom and dad, and climb up for scritches and kisses, and to fall asleep on mom and dad. Cuddle up close and give some kisses, and fall sound asleep in the worst possible place, so mom and dad have to sit still so as not to disturb us. Stay like this till mom decides it time for us to go to bed, and let mom put me in the cage first. Then I can sneak out at least twice before she gets the rest of the birds in. Bully all the other birds off the sleeping ladders, then go rest on my favorite perch (gotta remind them who's boss). Screech loudly at being put to bed until mom turns off the light. Then sleep for half an hour, wake up, incite all the boys to sing, and go back to sleep, ready for the new day. :) |
