Male or Female? Body Feathers of a Normal Grey Cockatiel
Juvy 'tiel with stripes & Solids   If you look at the body feathers on the belly and between the wings, juvenile males and females of any age will have striped feathers. In this picture, you can see the striped feathers as well as some new solid grey feathers. This pic comes from a male about 9 months old.

Adult Female Cockatiel  Adult Females will have striped body feathers throughout their lives. Adult Males will lose their striped body feathers, and usually have *most* of their solid colored feathers by the time they are a year old. (Gromit's 2 now, and he still has TWO baby feathers left.)   Adult Male 'Tiel
